Making it pop

INFO

Vic de Aranzeta is a creative designer, artist, and anthropologist with over a decade of experience across visual design, research, and product design. For six years, she’s worked as a product designer with global teams from big-tech, agencies, and small teams at Seed through Series B startups across education, climate, commerce, health, AI/ML, and civic tech.

Today, she’s using emerging technology to design for teachers at MagicSchool AI, saving them time and helping them get back to student engagement. There, she’s defining the creative strategy for brand integration and elevating the product look and feel, and owning the experience design for teacher. Her work spans product direction, creative design, defining research operations, rapid prototyping, content strategy, and design systems.

She’s also supported civic-tech clients to elevate their story with intuitive, visually engaging, and content driven experiences at Exygy, helped transform NCX’s product landscape leading design and launched a 0 to 1 digital marketplace for landowners, and crafted the vision and strategy for the award-winning Spora Mommas kit in partnership with Leadoff Studio.

Vic’s design practice draws inspiration from architecture, nature, film, history, vintage ads, and travel. When she’s not designing, you can find her exploring storytelling through short films, catching a baseball game, looking for the perfect cannoli, or rating movies on Letterboxd.

Approach

My approach centers on design as form, function, and feeling.

01  Keep it simple

Complexity and ambiguity demand flexibility, simplicity, and clarity. Think big and design small to create the right thing at the right time.

03 Stuff the cannoli

Thoughtfully crafted content is the filling that brings clarity and meaning to design. Without a content-first approach (much like cannoli without the filling) you’re left with an empty shell.

05 Trust your gut

Great design is shaped by what we know and what we feel. Balancing observation with emotion elevates our design craft and helps us create memorable and purposeful things we love.

02 Context is everything

Design for the real world: noisy spaces, quiet moments, dim light, and small screens. Consider the context of people, place and time to meet people where they are, but take them somewhere they never imagined.

04 Design with

Invite people into the process early and often to craft with intention. Design with others to try new things, get lost in the creative process, and discover innovative solutions together.
